Sumac is a common spice in Turkey, the Arab world and North Africa. The Romans also knew the shrub tanner sumac, Sicilian sumac or dye tree.
The spice sumac is used to leaven food.
Our Sumac is made from the pulp and stones of the stone fruit and contains approx. 7% salt.
